Zora is a tall woman in her 60s, with gray streaks in her dark hair. She speaks in a British accent.[1]

Personality[edit | edit source]

Zora's demeanor towards the circle is warm and fairly casual; she offers to bring them a fine vintage of wine on their return.[2] She enjoyed field work, and still misses it despite being retired.[3]

Biography[edit | edit source]

Before the events of the Circle of the Crimson Mirror[edit | edit source]

Zora was in Decklan Murphy's first circle, shortly before she retired to become a Lightkeeper.[4]

Circle of the Crimson Mirror[edit | edit source]

Zora used Candela Obscura resources to arrange for the Circle of the Crimson Mirror's retrieval of the bones of Atia Griffia, including their sea voyage to do so. On their way home, she radioed the SS Dandridge asking them for a favor: that they stop at the Isle of Serenity, where Decklan had been visiting, as he hadn't been in contact in some time.[5] The circle agreed.[6]

After they recovered Decklan and brought him to the Fourth Pharos, Zora met the circle and was with them when Dr. Hector Aguilar announced Decklan had fallen comatose. She was deeply upset by this, and sent the members of the circle home.[7] After Grimoria learned that it was likely Aroha Tama-Kai had cheated the party and only sold them half of Atia Griffia's bones, Edgar notified her on behalf of the circle.[8] Zora confirmed this was indeed true, and met with the circle that evening with their new assignment: to recover the rest of Griffia's remains at the party at Hayden House the following night. She also joined them, posing as Edgar's date.[9] At the party, she spoke with Reginald, an OUP contact with whom she was familiar, had a conversation with Edgar about her thought process behind recruiting Grimoria and about Candela Obscura's purpose.[3]

While the circle recovered from their encounter in the Sacred Ascension Cemetery, Zora investigated the individual who had had the gauntlet Edgar recovered, and identified him as Duncan Webb, an EONS agent.[10] She not long after called the circle together and tearfully told them that Decklan had died in the night.[11] She then gave them their next assignment: to find Decklan's circle, the Circle of the Wyrm, which had not reported back from their excavation in Oldfaire at the expected time.[12]
