Description[edit | edit source]

Official art of Xella Blacktongue, by Elaine Tipping.[art 2]

Xella is a lean, six foot tall hexblood man. He has pale purple skin, double-pointed ears and long black hair tied in a messy bun. His eyes are green and have split pupils, similar in appearance to cells dividing by mitosis. His teeth, as well as the rest of his mouth, is jet black. He wears small round glasses and an ornate set of empowered studded leather armor.[2]

Biography[edit | edit source]

Before The Re-Slayer's Take[edit | edit source]

Xella was raised by a hag in his youth, resulting in his transformation into a hexblood.[2]

In 839 PD, Xella and his friend Sasha came to the Embersmith & Embersmith Mine in the Spectrum Gorge, searching for Aeorian artifacts. While there, they and the miners were beset by a giant ghostly magma bulette who captured and non-fatally consumed Sasha. Xella hid within the mine's headquarters, as the running water in the caves beneath it warded the magma bulette away.[2]

The Re-Slayer's Take[edit | edit source]

Two months later, and two weeks after Sasha was attacked, Xella met The Re-Slayer's Take, who came to the Gorge in search of Xella and Frog's missing pieces. Xella was excited to meet a living aeormaton and after explaining his predicament, gave a missing piece of her hand, an Aeorian Identifier, as a show of good faith. He then accompanied the party into the caves beneath the mine.[2] After successfully defeating the bulette and rescuing Sasha, Xella rewarded the party with some of his collected magic items: Graviturgy Boots for Farah, a wand for Heera, and a Scrap Finding Compass for Frog. He then advised the party to go to a nearby gnomish village who could use their ghost-hunting prowess and also suggests the party start talking through some of their secrets before things get messy. As the party left, Xella and Sasha did too, resolving to take a break for a while.[3]
