Specials

We're going to re-vamp special episodes so that one-shots are more clearly separated from Q&A-type panels, such as con Q & As or debriefing post-campaign. Here are the proposed new episode codes and names.

Decided changes

• Joe's CelebriD&D added for first time (did not have episode code); no other CelebriD&D to be added
• New one-shot code: OSxNN
• New bits n bobs (temporary?) code: SSxNN
• Change the name of Category:One shot to Category:One-shots
• The specials that are actually Talks Machina will be categorizes as a new episode type, Talks Machina special episodes (TMSxNN), e.g. Undefined Episode. (affected episodes listed here)
• Undefined Episode, Undefined Episode, and Undefined Episode will eventually be no more, and redirected to the new Panels page. Their transcripts will be saved in the Archive namespace.

• Example episode code: OSx01
• Category: Category:One-shots
• Page: One-shots
• CampNum for {{Infobox Episode}}: OS

Miscellaneous

• Example episode code: SSx01 (to avoid collisions with existing SxNN numbers)
• Category: Category:Bits and bobs episodes

• CampNum for {{Infobox Episode}}: SS/Misc

Steps to re-categorizing specials

• Get consensus on new specials codes and episode names
• Get consensus on new category names
• Move episodes to new names, leaving redirects
• Update affected pages' content
  • Update CampNum and EpNum in each page's {{Infobox Episode}} with the new values
  • Add new CampNums to {{Infobox Episode}} logic
  • Replace {{Nav-Specials}} with {{Nav-Oneshots}} and {{Nav-Bitsnbobs}}
  • Change first line of every article that references the 'Nth special episode'
• Update Module:Ep/Switcher & Module:Ep/YTURLSwitcher/URLs & Module:AirdateOrder to output the new episode names and episode codes (and accept them as inputs)
  • Update VOD link in infoboxes to include the new episode code
• Category:Specials will get deleted and replaced with Category:One-shots and Category:Bits and bobs episodes (both will appear in Category:Episodes and Category:Shows and be assigned automatically by the {{Infobox Episode}})
• Replace every usage of the old specials episode codes on templates, files, and articles with the new ones
  • Have already removed many old codes from Module:Ep/Switcher and replaced them with the standard SxNN codes
• Update page links to CelebriD&D with Joe Manganiello once receives first episode code
• Find all links and ep refs to ex-episode pages and link them to the Panels page
  • Turn episode pages to be removed into redirects
  • Archive episode transcripts

• Make sure every new episode code (e.g. OSx01) is a redirect to the episode page (e.g., Critical Trolls for Extra Life)

Manual fixes needed

• New TMS episodes need the navbox at the bottom changed.
• TM page & template needs to be updated with the new TMS episodes.
• Links to Specials page in Appearance sections should be updated to One-shots
• Transcripts need to be moved manually.
• TMOSx10 was incorrectly labeled as TMOSx07 because Talks Machina 22 was incorrectly moved to Talks Machina 22: Liam's Quest instead of referencing "Liam's Quest: Full Circle" (OSx10).
• First line of Bits and bobs articles may need to be updated b/c the bot did not update them.

Other proposed specials maintenance

• Add CelebriD&D with Joe Manganiello to One-shots and give an episode code for the first time
• Special 48 renamed to its original broadcast name Feast of Legends
• Replace Specials page with One-shots and Bits and bobs pages
