Orwyn is a half-orc Sightwarden in the Eyes of Avalir. As an NPC in Exandria Unlimited: Calamity, he is played by Brennan Lee Mulligan.

Description[edit | edit source]

Appearance[edit | edit source]

Orwyn is a large half-orc man. One of his tusks is broken, and he wears his hair in a ponytail. When he spoke with Cerrit Agrupnin about the Vespin Chloras case, he wore leathers.[1]

Personality[edit | edit source]

Orwyn is a highly competent member of the Eyes of Avalir. He is also somewhat irreverent.[2] He is very loyal towards Cerrit.[3]

Biography[edit | edit source]

Orwyn is a member of the Eyes of Avalir and was once Cerrit's detective partner.[4] He was an initial investigator on the case concerning the disappearance of Vespin Chloras in Vasselheim, and brought the case to Cerrit because the Ring of Silver asked that the evidence of that case be retained rather than destroyed.[5] Orwyn suspected Vespin had been trying to create the Ritual of Seeding, but like many other mages, had failed.[6] After Cerrit realized the evidence was potentially important, he asked Orwyn to catalogue it and write up a report, and to keep it relatively quiet.[7]

When Cerrit returned to the Hall of Eyes after the attack on Avalir, he went to Orwyn's office and found his body on the floor. It appeared that Orwyn had taken out some of his assailants in the struggle. He also had two Runes of Recall, and as his dying action had written a note to Cerrit saying they were for his children, as a means to transport them to their mother.[8]

Relationships[edit | edit source]

Orwyn and Cerrit were once partners in the Eyes of Avalir, and Orwyn made sure to provide an escape for Cerrit's children once he realized the city might be in danger.[8]

Appearances and mentions[edit | edit source]

Trivia[edit | edit source]

Orwyn's appearance in a pre-Calamity series confirmed that, contrary to legends, orcs were not originally created from the blood of Gruumsh during the Calamity. Matthew Mercer verified this.[9]

"It is said" that was the point of their creation, largely by those without interest in historical interest (the unreliable narrator of history). While that particular event created a number of "vengeful, orc-like beings under the Ruiner", they indeed predated it. The Ruiner wishes to take credit for them, and pushed that narrative through his followers. Revisionist history."
