Description[edit | edit source]

Biography[edit | edit source]

Before "Candela Obscura Live" (OSx59)[edit | edit source]

Lester previously worked for the Periphery before being fired for bringing corruption to light. His life has since gone downhill, and he is divorced. He became a private detective and was hired to look into the camera Chey Tanii and Jackie Renoux built, but stopped being paid before the investigation concluded. He was later hired by Jackie to serve as a consultant on Mr. Terrible.[5]

"Candela Obscura Live" (OSx59)[edit | edit source]

Following a screening of their film, Mr. Terrible, the Circle of the Silver Screen was called upon to investigate a phenomenon on Barker Hill, where a film by their rival studio, Meridian, showed what appeared to be the murder of the lead actress, Idella Montaigne, by the lead actor August Glance; and the death of the lead actor by some unseen creature. Their lightkeeper, Greta DeClaire, told Lester that one of their EONS contacts, Jonathan Sky, had asked for them.

Upon entering the house, Lester immediately smelled death, and handed out gloves to everyone else in the circle, providing advice throughout the investigation but generally remaining hands-off. When they heard a thumping from the crates, Lester opened the box to reveal one of the copies of Idella. When Chey freed her from her bindings and she immediately attacked him, Lester took aim, but was unable to get a clear shot until after she had fought Chey and Evelyn and attacked Lester as well. After he killed the Idella copy, Jackie took off the gag and immediately took severe bleed damage. When she came to and discussed how the camera used for this film appeared to be a copy of the one she and Chey had worked on, and Lester revealed his involvement in looking into the camera. Chey threatened him, but ultimately bound up his wounds and the group continued on to Briarbank College having found the name of Professor Douglas Schultz on the crate.

At the university, Lester sought out Daryl Schmeit, the brother of a former Periphery colleague working as an archivist on the grounds that he would be unlikely to be loyal to EONS. He was able to get Schultz's classroom location, and provided suggestions on how to effectively interrogate the professor when other circle members put forth their plans. After learning about the device Schultz had made and that Idella was in danger, the circle took the professor to Idella's mansion in The Eaves with them. They found the door open and the house ransacked, so Lester immediately went to the bedroom to find something he could use as an electrical weapon. He took a lamp, and, after Chey allowed himself to become the vessel for the angry spirit, plugged it into the wall and threw the cord into the bathtub to electrocute the phenomenon.
