Khaaz is a member of a clan of goblin raiders in the Marrow Valley, and partner to its leader Drekkit.
Description[edit | edit source]
Khaaz is a female goblin with green skin and yellow eyes. She has two scars on her upper lip, as well as a larger scar on her chin. Her hair is dark green and kept in a mowhawk and ponytail. She wears a metal breastplate and a fur cloak.[1]
Biography[edit | edit source]
The Mighty Nein Origins: Nott the Brave[edit | edit source]
Around the year 831 PD[fn 1] after a difficult winter, Khaaz's clan raided the town of Felderwin for food, supplies, and prisoners, among them being the halfling Veth Brenatto, her husband Yeza, and their infant son Luc.[4] At the clan's camp, Khaaz put the prisoners in cages, and ignored Yeza's pleas to release Veth and Luc.[1]
A few weeks later during the night, Veth struck up a conversation with Khaaz, telling her that she forgives her for just doing her job, though Khaaz rejected the forgiveness. They talked about how they both have partners that they rely on, but Khaaz refuses to let them leave. Shortly afterwards, the family escaped, Veth using Khaaz's discarded bone toothpicks as a lockpick. Khaaz was among those that gave chase, following Veth as she split off from Yeza and Luc. Veth threw a bottle of acid Yeza had given her at Drekkit, killing him as it melted his face. In retribution, Khaaz took Veth to Isharnai, who told the hag to "make her suffer". Isharnai transformed Veth into a goblin, and she was made Khaaz's slave.[1][4]
Veth stayed as Khaaz's slave for what she would later estimate as at most a year and a half,[4] during which time Khaaz made her perform chores at the camp and work as her assistant torturer. While she was torturing a halfling, Khaaz was tricked by Veth into leaving the room, where she and the halfling escaped.[1]
