Biography[edit | edit source]

The Re-Slayer's Take[edit | edit source]

Between 837 and 843 PD,[fn 1] Idrin attended one of the monthly market fairs in Himblewood of the Vesper Timberland, invited by the Slayer's Take guild to participate in the town's trials and potentially join the guild. Before the trials Idrin visited fishmonger's examining a strangely colored swordfish. Idrin attempted to buy it but can't afford it. As the fishmonger, Mickey "Horselaugh" Tallison, sold him some other fish, he tells an embellished story about how he caught "Old Bertha" two days ago. As Horselaugh rambled, Idrin pondered how a swordfish ended up in a lake. Idrin complimented the fisherman, relating him to a story of his mother once lifting a boulder with her mind. As Idrin turned to leave, Horselaugh threw a crab in his direction "on the house", which was caught by Idrin's hawk familiar.[5]

Idrin, continuing perusing the market, overheard a tiefling woman, Heera Agneheart, arguing with an old woman running a jewelry stand. Heera was attempting to sell the service of stealing from the stand in order to test it's security system. Idrin approached and offered to share his fish with Heera, who hasn't eaten in days, heartily agreed. As they traveled through the market, they learned that they both were going to try out to join the Slayer's Take. Idrin cooked the fish using Create Bonfire.[5]

At midday Idrin and Heera approached the Slayer's Take booth run by a goblin named Poogs, each of them sign their names and give their reasoning wanting to join. Everyone notices Poogs' shiny straight teeth, and he explained that they're dentures given to him by a wizard, though they were a bit large and gave him a lisp. Idrin attempted to fix them by breaking them and using Mending to fit them together making them smaller. He initially failed, but used Chronal Shift to reverse time and try again, succeeding instead. After the gelatinous cube escaped its confines, the group sprang into action to defeat the cube. Idrin blasted it with Scorching Rays and Firebolts.[5]

Explanatory footnotes:

  1. The web series is set after the end of M9's adventures and before the formation of Bells Hells.
  2. Idrin knows the spell Faerie Fire, which is not a wizard spell. As an uniya, Idrin is considered a half-elf, who may choose to replace their Skill Versatility trait with Drow Magic if their elf ancestry is that of drow.[8]
