The Hug Hive, formerly known as the Hoard Hive, is a goblin village within the Utesspire Mountains.[1]

Description[edit | edit source]

The Hug Hive is built within a cave at the base of one of the largest mountains in the Utesspire range. The village is protected by the gates, marked by a sign written in the Goblin language that read "Hoard Hive", before the village was re-named and sign was written over to read "Hug Hive". The villagers also displayed the skeleton of the mind flayer killed by the Slayer's Take.[1]

The people of Hug Hive farm slugs for slug milk, which Freedom Windsong called sweet.[1]

Points of interest[edit | edit source]

  • Large waterfall decorated with multi-colored lanterns[1]
    • Statue depicting a goblin's hand holding a cupcake, which is held by a pillar erected within the waterfall's pool. The statue is blessed—the people who meditate before it may receive a magical boon. When the Re-Slayer's meditated, motes of light emerge from the water and settled upon them, granting each of them a permanent +1 bonus to their AC, and briefly activating their Weapons of the Spectral Hand.[1]
    • Bad Vibes Bunker: A safety bunker hidden behind the waterfall.[2]
  • Market[1]

History[edit | edit source]

Background[edit | edit source]

The goblin village of Hoard Hive has been under the warlike rule of Gorgonthakahn, and most of the goblins were afflicted by the Curse of Strife, feeding the village from raiding the nearby settlements. At some point, the Slayer's Take killed a mind flayer within the vicinity of the village. The goblins displayed its skeleton outside the entrance as a warning.[1]

Around 838 PD, one of the goblins named Poogs befriended an outsider, Timpani Guff, and through Timpani's repeated kindness Poogs' curse was broken. Poogs left the village, which angered Gorgonthakahn who commanded Freakza the Wrathful to bring him back. Freakza tracked him down and started to observe him, waiting for an opportune time to strike. One day Poogs took a long time to bake a cupcake and gave it to Timpani, Freakza was touched by the kindness of this moment, and his Curse of Strife was lifted. Freakza then returned to the Hoard Hive and spread the story throughout the village, which broke the curse. The villagers abandoned their militant lifestyle and re-named the village as "Hug Hive".[1] Gorgonthakahn was deposed, and Freakza, now renamed Freedom Windsong, became the unofficial leader.[3]

Around a week before the Re-Slayer's Take's arrival to the Hug Hive, the mind flayer skeleton reportedly went missing.[1]

The Re-Slayer's Take[edit | edit source]

In 839 PD,[4] the Re-Slayer's were transported to the Utesspire Mountains by the feverish Timpani Guff, and since they within its vicinity of Poogs' home village, Poogs reluctantly suggested the party should visit it and search a cure for Timpani. They expected meet a hostile village, not friendly enough to provide help. However, they were surprised by their hospitality, and meet with Poogs' old friend Freedom Windsong. Freedom explained that Timpani was sick, and Freedom diagnosed him with Mindfire Contagion. Several goblin attendants dealt with Timpani magically putting him to sleep and laying him on a cot.[1]

The same day, the Timberblight attacked the village with its army of skeletons and shambling rots, and the Re-Slayers took the key role in bringing the army down.[2]
