Help:Spoilers

Encyclopedia Exandria's philosophy regarding spoilers is that this is not a spoiler-free wiki. Spoilers are not specially marked, and all readers should assume spoilers immediately exist in all aspects and areas of every article.

While most policies are subject to change, this guiding principle is not at this time up for debate. Implementing spoilers would be a massive change affecting a huge number of pages across the wiki and would require moderation efforts beyond our current capability.

Guiding principle

On Encyclopedia Exandria, there are no spoiler tags and no banners warning for spoilers. Any material that is readily available to all fans, within reason, is considered fair game for inclusion within our articles, including the infoboxes (the summarizing sidebar located at the top of each article).

This includes material for which a readily available subscription (Twitch, Amazon Prime) or purchase (comics, sourcebooks) is required. Once an episode has aired on Thursday, even if it is not yet published to YouTube and is only available to Twitch or Beacon subscribers, it is considered available.

Exceptions

Article titles and ledes (the first blurb at the top of the article) are, within reason, kept free of spoilers. This prevents spoilers from appearing in previews or search engine results. In the case of a potentially unavoidable spoiler in an article title, please use your judgment and do not hesitate to use the talk page to discuss.

Readers, be aware again that this is not a spoiler-free wiki, and if you are avoiding spoilers, you may wish to wait until you are caught up to browse this wiki.

If material is not yet available to all fans and will become available at a later date, it cannot be added to the wiki until that later date. Some past examples include, but are not limited to:

  • Live shows: If a live show is taped in advance but will air on the Critical Role Twitch and YouTube channels at a later date, such as with "The Search For Grog" (OSx28), "The Adventures of the Darrington Brigade" (OSx35), and "The Mighty Nein Reunion: Echoes of the Solstice" (OSx54), the wiki will not be updated until the episode has aired on the channel.
  • The Legend of Vox Machina: Kickstarter backers received an early access code for the first two episodes of the series, permitting them to see it a few days before it released. The pages were not updated until these episodes were available for streaming to all Prime Video subscribers.
  • Midst, The Re-Slayer's Take, and early access for subscribers: Updates for narrative shows with early access options, like Midst and The Re-Slayer's Take, are based on the freely available main feed episodes. Material from episodes only available to subscribers, whether through The Fold or through Beacon, is not added to the wiki until those episodes come out on the main feed.
  • Non-narrative shows: Details from non-narrative material, such as the watch parties for The Legend of Vox Machina or Critical Role Cooldown, are considered eligible for addition to articles immediately even if they require a subscription to access and are not more widely available than such. Readers should assume that details from these shows are present on articles.
  • Other: Should you obtain a pre-release copy of a Critical Role publication, by whatever means, please do not update the wiki until the publication date. If publication dates vary by country, please use the United States release date.
