Gurt Stumpstuck is the dwarven keeper of the Spectral Hand prophecy. As an NPC in The Re-Slayer's Take, Gurt is played by George Primavera.

Description[edit | edit source]

Gurt is a four-foot tall hill dwarf. He has a long, unkempt beard and a bald head. His build is stout and muscular.[1]

Biography[edit | edit source]

Before The Re-Slayer's Take[edit | edit source]

Gurt lives in a shack located in Timpani's bog. At some point, Gurt was entrusted with the Weapons of the Spectral Hand, to be given to four chosen ones indicated by a prophecy, seemingly in order to defeat the undead spirit of The Timberblight. A riddle was placed outside of Gurt's shack for the chosen ones to solve: A sign that reads "If ye be who ye be, and ye seek to claim destiny, knock as intended." The solution being to repair and use a broken door knocker.

The Re-Slayer's Take[edit | edit source]

Timpani Guff brought four adventurers that he gathered in order to combat the Timberblight to Gurt's hut in his bog, hoping to solicit advice and perhaps dinner from the dwarf.[2] When the group solved the riddle, Gurt opened the door and brought them inside, noting that the assumed chosen ones were early. He brought out the Weapons of the Spectral Hand, breezily explaining their purpose and assuming that the party was already familiar with the prophecy. Once the four selected their weapons, Gurt chanted something and attuned them to the items.[3]

As Timpani ushered the party out, Gurt complained to the firbolg about the faulty waste removal system in the swamp, and Timpani rushed out the door. Once the party was gone, Gurt mused to himself that there was something "off" about the chosen ones that he couldn't place.[4]

The following day Gurt was visited again, this time by a mysterious man who claimed his party had been sent by the Spectral Hand to claim their weapons, noting that the riddle had for some reason already been answered. Gurt closed the door without a word in a panic.[5]
