Giant beast

(Redirected from Giant creature)

Giant beasts are monstrous varieties of the mundane animals with greater defensive and offensive abilities.

Types of giants beasts[edit | edit source]

  • Apes
  • Constrictor snakes[2]
  • Crabs
  • Crocodiles[3]
  • Eagles
  • Fire beetles
  • Ice frogs
  • Octopi[4][5]
  • Owls
  • Rats. The diseased giant rats transmit diseases. Until the rats' disease is cured, the target can't regain hit points except by magical means, and the target's hit point maximum decreases by a certain amount of HP every 24 hours.[6]
  • Scorpions[7]
  • Sharks
  • Spiders, in addition to the abilities common to the mundane spiders, they can paralyze their targets with poison and restrain their target with web.[8] Demonfeed spiders are the offspring of the giant spiders, spawned by the Spider Queen before the Great War of the Calamity and transformed into spiders that are fiendish in nature after consuming the ichor of demons felled during the Great War.[9]
  • Toads[10]

History[edit | edit source]

Critical Role[edit | edit source]

A giant spider attacked and poisoned Vax in a forest, while the party camped for the night. Vex used the spider's fangs to create an antidote. Pike got the killing blow on the spider.[11]

Giants constrictor snakes dwell Ustaloch lake. Beauregard Lionett, Fjord, and Jester Lavorre took a contract from Trostenwald fishermen, including Reggie, to get rid them off the giant snakes.[2]

Diseased giants rats inhabit the sewers of Zadash. Half a dozen of rats attacked the Mighty Nien in 835 PD, when the party was walking through the sewers.[12]

Two giant alligators assailed the Mighty Nein in the Labenda Swamp.[13]

Giant scorpions were summoned by dark Fearne to attack the Crown Keepers in 842 PD,[14] and were released by Aeorian tomb tapper in 843 PD.[15]

One-shots[edit | edit source]

Circa 790 PD, a massive crab dwelled on the island of Athova-Rae and was called by the local population from the village of Drobanagos as the Dreamer.[16] It has an enhanced HP pool, Armor Class, and claw damage, which correlates to the description of the Huge giant crab from the 5th edition's Tales of the Yawning Portal adventure module. Huge giant crab has an increased: challenge rating to 8, hit points to 161 (14d12 + 70), and its Strength and Constitution are 20 (+5). It is immune to being charmed, frightened, and paralyzed. It has improved claw attack with higher attack bonus, reach, and damage.[17]

Giant spider, headed by Aragog attacked the "Schmogwarts" students on the basement chess board.[18]

Sourcebooks[edit | edit source]

In 836 PD, as part of Ashari Agitator adventure hook, a charmed giant crocodile and water elementals guarded a K'Tawl Swamp base of a cruel Ashari waverider named Galessi.[3]

As of 836 PD a giant octopus lived in the Emerald Grotto of Jigow.[5] There are giant octopi in the ruins of Cael Morrow.[19]

Wildshapes and Polymorphs[edit | edit source]

Keyleth often Wildshaped into a giant scorpion in battle,[20][21] as wells as wildshaping into a giant scorpion to test the new recruits of the Greyskull Keep.[22] Keyleth wildshaped into a giant shark on a couple of occasions.[23]

Reani wildshaped into a giant scorpion.[24]

Both Vox Machina[25][26] and the Mighty Nein[27][28][29] polymorphed some of their members into giants eagles to travel between destinations faster. The Mighty Nein also used the giant owl form.[30]

Caleb Widogast often polymorphed himself into a giant ape, sometimes referred as Capeleb.[31][32] Within the caverns of the Ashkeeper Peaks Caleb polymorphed a fire giant into a giant octopus to make harmless.[4] Caleb polymorphed himself into a giant white shark to battle against the powerful currents in the Vokodo's caverns of Rumblecusp.[33] Caleb polymorphed himself into giant spider transporting Jester Lavorre and Fjord out of a Aeorian site (Fjord wasn't fond of riding a spider).[34]
