History[edit | edit source]

Book club[edit | edit source]

While reading The Daring Trials and Tribulations of Sir Taryon Darrington, the book club became intrigued by Taryon's description of the Changebringer's Nectar served at the Grumpy Lily. As one member was going to be in Deastok shortly after, she was able to convince the bartender to give her the recipe. After successfully re-creating the drink, the group wanted to do it again. As members of the club traveled across Exandria they would bring back recipes as they did.[1]

The book club traveled to all the continents of Exandria, except for the Shattered Teeth. Note that it is not known precisely when members of the party visited each location, and it is unlikely that they visited each continent only once, and may have visited them non-consecutively.

Tal'Dorei[edit | edit source]

In Emon, the book club collected recipes from some of the taverns, such as the full Emon breakfast at the Diamond Nest Tavern[2] and Scanlan's hand pies from the staff at the Laughing Lamia Inn, at the repeated insistence from the bard himself. In Whitestone they visited the Slayer's Cake[3] and got a recipe for purple jewel cake from Pike Trickfoot.[4] They also sampled GoFiBePo, or at least attempted to,[5] and learned the De Rolo family's new recipe for garlic pasta puttanesca.[6] The party also visited Byroden for the Gem of Byroden festival and sampled the many pies,[7] and during their travel through the Rifenmist Jungle received a recipe from Elam Genar for fry bread.[8]

Issylra[edit | edit source]

Members of the book club visited Vasselheim to sample the dishes prepared during various holidays, such as honey polenta during Highsummer,[9] succotash for Wild's Grandeur,[10] and the Slayer's Take's stew for Civilization's Dawn.[11] While in the city, they also met a strange man who claimed to have once made cookies with gunpowder.[12] The book club also visited the town of Shorecomb, where they had grilled salmon and smørrebrød.[13]

Wildemount[edit | edit source]

During the First Draught Book Club's travels in Wildemount, they personally met and received recipes from several members of the Mighty Nein. In Nicodranas, they visited the Lavish Chateau and had the Ruby of the Sea's namesake cocktail.[14] Jester Lavorre gave them several pastry recipes,[15] and they learned the Brenatto family's recipe for hummus.[16] While at The Nestled Nook Inn in Trostenwald, the book club met Beauregard Lionett[17] and Yasha Nydoorin who taught them to make flower cake[18] and roasted crickets.[19] They traveled to the Blooming Grove where Caduceus Clay served them mushroom toasts[20] and tea.[21] They even received a recipe for fish tacos from Caleb Widogast's now released familiar Frumpkin.[22]

Beyond their meetings with the Mighty Nein, the book club was first brought to Wildemount to visit the Grumpy Lily in Deastok, where they learned the recipe for the Changebringer's Nectar and Schlond's Embrace.[23] They visited Uthodurn to have the Softer Stoneforge bakery's signature black moss cupcakes.[24] In 842 PD, the book club traveled to Xhorhas to attend the Faire of Abundance in Asarius, where they bought the recipe for the festival's Golden Thistle prize winning meat pies.[25] Also in Xhorhas they went to the capital of Rosohna to have Shadowshire soup.[26]

Marquet[edit | edit source]

On the northern beaches at Shammel the book club learned the recipe for the Dalen's Closet Special sangria.[27] In Ank'Harel they sampled many dishes such as semolina porridge,[28] couscous,[29] a sandwich named after the Meat Man,[30] fusaka spice,[31] and the formidable Sandkheg's Hide.[32]

In 843 PD, some weeks before the Apogee Solstice, the First Draught Book Club visited Jrusar. There they sampled several taverns such as the brisket at the Spire by Fire Inn[33] and Pretty's "Meal" at the Soot and Swill.[34] They met Ephred the Shadow Baker,[35] stayed a night at Zhudanna's home,[36] and had the maple ginger cookies of Lord Ariks Eshteross.[37]
