Eldamir the Wise is an elf wizard and a member of the Septarion, the seven wizards who govern Avalir. As an NPC, he is played by Brennan Lee Mulligan.

Description[edit | edit source]

Appearance[edit | edit source]

Eldamir was an ancient elf, bowed with age. When Patia met him during the Replenishment, he was wearing a shimmering golden cloak with small glimmering crystals of golden light that shimmered in geometric shapes, turned into motes, and floated away. His eyes were soft and smiling and he leaned on a wooden staff that he had wielded for centuries.[3]

Personality[edit | edit source]

Eldamir was distinguished by his talkativeness, off-target verbosity, and nostalgia, often retelling stories of his past and losing himself in memories.[4] In truth, he did not care about the lives of others and was willing to let an untold number of civilians die as long as the Septarions were protected, himself included.[5]

Biography[edit | edit source]

Before Exandria Unlimited: Calamity[edit | edit source]

Eldamir the Wise has sat on the Septarion since the founding of Avalir, and knew Imyr Por'co personally. His knowledge of the arcane overshadowed most wizards of the city.[6]

"Excelsior" (E3x01)[edit | edit source]

Eldamir came to speak with Patia Por'co and reminisced about her grandfather, and praised her for her skill as a mage.[7] His apprentice, Loras, told Patia that Eldamir was interested in obtaining the artifacts confiscated from Vespin Chloras being held by the Eyes of Avalir, and asked her to use her connections with Cerrit Agrupnin to help with this.[8] Loras also told Patia that Eldamir expected Patia to become his new apprentice, as his former one, Volucia of the Heart's Emblem, said to leave her post and retire to Cael Morrow of Marquet.[9]

"Bitterness and Dread" (E3x02)[edit | edit source]

Sofyra of the Hall of Prophecy shared with the Ring of Brass that the former apprentice of Eldamir the Wise, Volucia of the Heart's Emblem, was a member of the Ring of Gold and a colleague of Loras. A little over a week before the last Replenishment, Volucia began working with the Hall of Prophecy to attempt to help the allegedly mad oracles. She was able to calm oracle Karwen and worked on a circle of runes for Karwen's bed to be contained in.[10]

Shortly afterward, Volucia had an argument with Loras on a subject of magic, saying "if these gifts harm us, then we should not accept them".[11] Then, she said to leave Avalir, after breaking her staff and renouncing magic "forever".[12]

"Fire and Ruin" (E3x04)[edit | edit source]

Patia saw Eldamir the Wise at the Septarion. He told her and Loras to ensure that the people of Avalir give all their spell energy to the city and requested that skyships be brought to the Archsept to save him and other members of government and their effects. Patia ignored him, realizing this would doom the population.[13] Loras conveyed this same request to Loquatius Seelie, who instead disguised himself as Eldamir and told the people of Avalir to use their spells to escape.[14]
