Cascading protection & ep switcher[edit source]

So with some of the work I've been doing like renaming and moving all the talks machina episodes I need to be able edit pages that have cascading protection from the front page like the ep switcher. I'm wondering if it could be unprotected somehow like the YT switcher is. ElSeiver (talk) 20:55, June 8, 2022 (UTC)

Unfortunately we can't unprotect it specifically - we'd have to take off all cascading protection. I think the best solutions would be either if this is something that can be tested in the sandbox, if you could write it in the sandbox then I or User:CaptainOfTheTidesBreath can copy it over; or if you think you would be able to make the updates in a relatively brief period of time we could do a pre-planned removal of that protection so you can make the updates and then put it back up once you're done.Untropicalisland (talk) 21:14, June 8, 2022 (UTC)
Popping in here while I have a window, but I think it'd be fine to drop cascading protecting on the Main Page, which is what's doing it if I understand correctly, and manually protect the items that need to be protected. The Switcher being open to experienced editors I think is quite fine, especially since it reduces editing load on admins for something that doesn't strictly need to be admins (and most editors have no idea how to even find it), and if we really wanted it protected, we could always do, what is it, confirmed users? Just need a hot second to figure out what pages DO need protecting actually. —CaptainOfTheTidesBreath (aye, captain!) 21:22, June 8, 2022 (UTC)
I've currently turned cascading off. There's a possibility it will be protected to autoconfirmed users only in the future since it's used in a lot of pages. —CaptainOfTheTidesBreath (aye, captain!) 21:39, June 8, 2022 (UTC)
Sounds good, and autoconfirmed protection for module/switcher seems reasonable to me. - Untropicalisland (talk) 21:56, June 8, 2022 (UTC)
Thanks both for your flexibility with this! Modules glorious modules... ElSeiver (talk) 02:04, June 9, 2022 (UTC)

Resolving requests for edits?[edit source]

I've changed the phrasing for Angel of Irons's summary, assuming it was changed because of the writing style being a bit subjective, however I don't see any way to resolve the request or to send off my edits for approval. Is there a way to do that? Best, transjesterlavorre

Hi! I don't see the edits - you should be able to make them on your own without approval. When you save changes, it will save your edits. Let me know if I'm not understanding what your asking - thanks! -Untropicalisland (talk) 00:01, June 10, 2022 (UTC)
