Cordelia Glask, typically referred to as Madam Glask, is the owner of the Glass Cat Casino in Newfaire and a member of the Circle of Tide & Bone. She is played by Gina Darling.

Description

Cordelia Glask is a young woman who is impeccably dressed in furs and jewels, usually wearing evening wear even in daytime, but her clothing is not quite as fine up close as it appears from a distance. She is 5'7".[2]

Personality

Madam Glask is very charismatic and friendly,[3] but is quick to mistrust those who harm those she is close to and is very protective of the people who work for her.[4]

Biography

Before Candela Obscura

When she was young, Madam Glask and her parents immigrated to Newfaire from the KeGa Islands[5] across the Glass Sea in search of a better life. Her parents did not make the crossing, so she asked the sea gods for what her parents had wished for, and was rewarded with wealth and success in Newfaire.[6]

Madam Glask had previously worked with Candela Obscura and with Cosmo Grimm.[7] She had also employed Dr. Elsie Roberts as a physician to treat the workers at her brothel,[8] and is Oscar Grimm's employer.[9]

Candela Obscura: Chapter 3

Madam Glask was invited to join the Circle of Tide and Bone, which she accepted. She was able to get Silva Sarkis to open up somewhat,[3] though she was concerned about letting him stay at the Glass Cat due to the potential danger.[10] When the circle infiltrated Grayslate Sanatorium, she, along with Elsie and Cosmo, created a distraction, and her fainting in particular allowed Elsie to sneak into Director Greenvale's office.[11] She was particularly upset and angry when Elsie, in her beast form, killed Oscar,[12] and during the fight with The Great Maw stayed back and tended to Cosmo after he was badly injured.[13]

While The Serious Man was being treated at The Antiquarian, Cosmo and Elsie stayed with Madam Glask at the Glass Cat Casino. When the circle met to discuss the events of "The Antiquarian" (CO3x01), she revealed that she had made a deal with the sea gods in her youth.[14] The Serious Man, now named as Toren Gevni, did not recognize her when the circle interrogated him.[15]

Due to her similar experience, Madam Glask took the lead on speaking to Mina, a young woman who had made her own deal with entities from the sea. She was able to connect with and reassure Mina, willingly taking harm from Mina's protector Arterax.[16]

The Glass Cat was set on fire not long after by several agents of Candela Obscura, who were going after Mina. Cordelia pressed a panic button to let Mina and her staff escape, and attempted to stop the agents who entered the casino, but while she was able to distract them with flash powder, her arm was badly injured.[17] She then escaped out the back door, where Mina had summoned Arterax. When Cordelia reached out to her benefactor in an attempt to strengthen the sentry, she succeeded and was told to find this entity, and that "The only way through is down." The sentry was strengthed, and destroyed all but one of the remaining agents.[18] She and Mina escaped with the rest of the circle, and she then continued with the others of her circle down the well in Calinus Market, leaving Mina above ground.[19] As they rested, Cosmo apologized to Cordelia for the loss of the Glass Cat, but she reassured him that he was like family and was more important.[20]

The circle traveled westward through Oldfaire, guided by Raj,[21] until they reached the Anatithenai. When Cordelia attempted to step forward, she was overtaken by bleed, but came to inside the structure, aided by the others of the circle.[22] As her deal with Iomene, she gave her life to ensure Mina would have good friends in her life, and was reunited with the waters of her birthplace.[23] She learned in her final moments that Iomene had been the one who granted her original boon, rather than the sea gods of her home.[24]
