"Critical Role plays Daggerheart" (OSx57)[edit | edit source]

The Menagerie's first mission was to visit the Velvet Grove helping its inhabitants.

As they walk toward their objective, Sweetpea asked Bunnie how she got attendees at her bard shows, and Bunnie told her they would advertise in front of the building, had good acts, and performed good deeds in the town and protect it from danger. The Menagerie continued, smelling iron and hearing a distant growl. When the sound came closer and they noticed a large figure, Bunnie responded by casting Enrapture which would enthrall a creature and focus its attention on her. A wounded hedge bear emerged, seemed unwell and predatory, and they could hear a second one. It swiped at Bunnie, but misses, and she retaliated successfully with her bladed fan. Bunnie sang a song to give everyone in range a Hope, and then did a tag team attack with Pango, killing one of the bears.

Bunnie, Kexon Peros, and Xarlo discussed their mixed victory and what they've learned. Pango and Bunnie both searched for the Cleft Hand, but while they did not find it, they felt a connection with the natural landscape and were able to locate the corrupted river easily. Later, Bunnie asked Pango if the river corruption seemed similar to the Seep, and he told her it seemed different, though he wondered if one was fresh and one was older and that could account for the differences. Bunnie told him that there was a red mist in her home that also caused strange behaviors.

Arriving in the vicinity of the corpse of Wild Cullen, the party was attacked by a large crab-like creatures, four of the skitterfish, and a timber serpent tainted with the corruption. Bunnie and Danté Terrapin ran towards the trees, using Danté's ability to be silent. Bunnie rallied the party and did a performance that made the serpent vulnerable to the party's attacks. Further into the fight, several skitterfish attacked Bunnie, and Bunnie pulled out her whip and scattered the skitterfish. As the members of The Menagerie check in with each other after the battle, Bunnie asked Xarlo if he wanted to do anything, since he knew Wild Cullen, and Xarlo told her he was going to build a cairn and let Cullen's body decompose. While resting Bunnie meditatively played a relaxing song.

When the party noticed the spring-source of the river, they observed a pulsing knot of vines from which the corruption was spilling out, and Boko within the vines. Coming closer to the vines, the party was attacked by the Seep Abscess in the spring, activating the vines and sending some towards Bunnie, who got injured and restrained. Xarlo tried to use his healing abilities on Boko, and thanks to Bunnie's rally was able to do so and clear some of the corruption. Deeper into the confrontation, Bunnie broke out of her restraints, but as she did, Boko threw a rock at Kexon, hitting him and badly injuring him. Sweetpea pulled back some of the vines to give Bunnie a better hit, but despite further assistance from Xarlo, Bunnie missed and fell into the tainted water. Sweetpea and Bunnie tried again, this time both hitting.

After Boko was healed, Boko made its face take on the visage of the person, a balding man with loose jowls, whom Bunnie recognized as Dylan Brouche, a patron of the Lily Locket Lounge.
