Artana Voe (/ɑrˈtɑːnə ˈvoʊ/) is an uniya bounty hunter who was hired to arrest Gurge Kisgregg.[3] As an NPC, Artana is played by Matthew Mercer.

Description[edit | edit source]

Artana has piercing light-brown eyes,[4] with elven ears and orcish features, and is described as "strikingly beautiful".[1] She is very slender, and when first encountered by the Bells Hells she was wearing dark leather armor, a very dark green cloak, and a heavy belt holding multiple pouches and tools.[5]

She is quick to attack intruders, only willing to talk after being bribed into not attacking members of Bells Hells when they approached her in her secret hideout.[6] She holds her clients as privileged information, though she is willing to name them if paid handsomely. She does not herself as owing loyalty to her clients, especially those who withhold information that may kill her.[7]

Biography[edit | edit source]

Background[edit | edit source]

Artana is the sister of Preio Madali, the owner of the Soot and Swill.[8] Artana has a years-long reputation in Jrusar's criminal circles as a mercenary for hire known for successfully hunting those that are hard to find.[9] Shortly before Campaign 3, she was hired by Vali Dertrana to capture Gurge Kisgregg. She was told that Gurge was a threat, but she was apparently not told about Gurge's lycanthropy.[10][11] With the help of Keledon, the head of the wardens in the Smolder Spire of Jrusar, she successfully captured Gurge after a violent fight in the street and received the bounty from Vali.[12][13]

Campaign 3: Bells Hells[edit | edit source]

Shortly after Artana completed her contract, Bells Hells went looking for Gurge and learned of Artana's involvement from Keledon.[12] Chetney Pock O'Pea, Orym, Ashton Greymoore, and Dorian Storm found her in a secret room in the kitchens of Soot and Swill. When they entered the room, Artana heard their approach and shot Orym with a crossbow. They were able to talk her down and, after begrudgingly paying her 160 gold, learned that Artana turned Gurge over to Vali at the Moon Tower. She told them that she had not worked for Vali before and that, because he was not forthcoming enough about the potentially lethal details of this job, she felt no loyalty for him. She further warned them not to get bitten by Gurge.[14]

About a month later,[15] Orym saw Artana in Bassuras walking around the Seat of Disdain. She told him that she was seeing a friend, but he determined that this was likely not the whole truth.[16] Later the same day, she arranged an attack on the Seat of Disdain as a diversion to kidnap Armand,[17] knocking out or slaining several guards on her way through. After an initial standoff she and Bells Hells realized they shared a goal in bringing Armand Treshi back to Jrusar.[18] She, Orym, Chetney, and Imogen began to exit the Seat of Disdain with Treshi, but were apprehended by guards, who thought that the Bells Hells members had caught her. Imogen pretended to handcuff her,[19] and later threw her at Ratanish, at which point Artana escaped.[20] When Bells Hells turned in Treshi to Orlana Seshadri, Orlana mentioned that she was the one who contracted Artana to capture Treshi.[21]
