Arcanist Allura Vysoren is a human wizard. She is famous throughout Tal'Dorei as a powerful arcanist and former adventurer. Allura is a member of the Council of Tal'Dorei and one of Vox Machina's principal contacts within Emon. Her home was the Ivory Tower, in Emon's central Cloudtop District.

As an NPC in Critical Role, she is played by Matthew Mercer. In The Legend of Vox Machina, Allura is voiced by Indira Varma.[7]

Description[edit | edit source]

Appearance[edit | edit source]

Allura has long, golden hair which she usually keeps braided. She is often seen wearing blue robes.[8]

Personality[edit | edit source]

Allura Vysoren is a kind and loyal ally of Vox Machina. She has been shown carrying several major, simultaneous responsivities as both a member of the Arcana Pansophical and the Master of Arcana on the Tal'Dorei Council. Allura is headstrong, forgiving, and willing to do anything to protect the ones she loves. Her reunion with Kima sparked joy and vitality she had not felt since destiny had drawn the two apart fifteen years prior.[9]

Biography[edit | edit source]

Before Campaign 1[edit | edit source]

Allura has stated that she made a Bags of Holding as a child to pass the time on weekends when she was little, and as such is very familiar with what the magical items are and are not capable of.[10] In her youth she studied at the Alabaster Lyceum.[11]

Prior to the sealing of Thordak, she met, befriended and perhaps joined the Arcana Pansophical.[12] 15[13] or 16[14] years before Chroma Conclave attacked Emon, she sealed Thordak in the Elemental Plane of Fire, with the help of Kima of Vord, other adventuring party members, and the Arcana Pansophical. Allura and Kima also defeated the Scourged Rider around 15 years before Vox Machina met Kima. Both of them were offered political positions on the Council of Emon; Allura accepted the position while Kima chose to follow the god Bahamut as a paladin.[15] She and Kima had remained close friends, and since then have rekindled their romantic relationship.[16]

Campaign 1: Vox Machina[edit | edit source]

Pre-stream[edit | edit source]

Vox Machina first met Allura when they were trying to get into the Palace of the Sovereign of Emon to speak with Sovereign Uriel Tal'Dorei II. They were barred from entering due to the recent disorder caused by an assassination attempt on the royal blood. The party noticed Allura angrily stomping away from the doors. She introduced herself and told the party that Uriel's and his wife's (Salda Tal'Dorei) recent activity became suspicious, adding that Uriel was known to be a "good and trusted man". When Allura was ready to leave after waiting for seven days to enter the Council chambers, Vox Machina told her the information they managed to gather, connected with the curios events surrounding the Sovereign, and she led them to her home, the Ivory Tower, to further discuss it.[17] Allura allied herself with the party and scryed on the palace with the help of Keyleth. They discovered that the royal family were all under the influence of a demons who had tangled the mind of Uriel to use him as a spokesman for their plot.[18] Allura parted ways with the party, and shortly after, had been attacked and barely escaped.[19]

After completing a couple of tasks across Emon, Vox Machina headed back to the Ivory Tower to meet with Allura, where they found a wide open front door and signs of a struggle with a demonic entity. Upon investigating the tower, they inadvertently triggered the defense systems, causing the tower to come crashing down and turn into a pearl. Several members of the group attempted to use a rug as a parachute, only for it to flip under them and begin flying. They used this Carpet of Flying to safely escape the collapsing tower and decided to keep the magical item for their use.[20][21] Allura later reunited with Vox Machina outside the palace gates. She warned them that "the evil feeding on the throne was growing bolder". They noticed that dark clouds began gathering above Emon. Allura aided the party in infiltrating the palace.[19]

Soon after the construction of Greyskull Keep was completed, Allura visited Vox Machina in their new home and joined them for dinner. They first traded tales of their adventures, and Allura asked them to aid her long-time friend and ally, Lady Kima of Vord. Lady Kima had gone missing after leaving on a vision quest for her deity, Bahamut. The last letter that Allura received from her "spoke of a great evil taking root beneath the dwarven city of Kraghammer". Allura was unable to travel there herself, but she provided Vox Machina with the "proper paperwork" to get through the city gates. She promised to reward them "handsomely" if they could find Kima, help her, and bring her back safely. Vox Machina set off for Kraghammer the very next day.[22]

Arc 1: Kraghammer and Vasselheim & Arc 2: The Briarwoods[edit | edit source]

Art of Allura Vysoren, by Wendy Sullivan. From "The Story of Vox Machina" (Mx04).

Shortly after Vox Machina returned to Emon victorious, Allura reunited with Kima. Vox Machina described their adventures, and Allura payed them 10,000 gold pieces for completing the mission. Allura advised them to bring the problem of the Horn of Orcus before the Council of Tal'Dorei. She also told them that, since their departure, she has been dealing with "political bullshit", though she did meet with Syldor Vessar of Syngorn, as well as Lady and Lord Briarwood. Allura hinted that she knew Vox Machina had her Carpet of Flying, but she seemed to have decided to let them keep it.[9]

As a member of the Council of Tal'Dorei, Allura attended the feast honoring the Briarwoods. In chatting with Vox Machina before the feast, she told them she had been caught in some city bureaucracy, which she despised, and was taking some time off for herself. Tiberius flirted with her. He proposed a tea date between her, Grog, and Kima, but Allura demurred, saying that the mix of company would be awkward. Instead, she proposed keeping it to just the two of them, and Tiberius accepted. They then spoke about other things.[23] Allura mentioned that she had finished an extra Earring of Whisper for Vox Machina and was about a month away from completing a teleportation sigil in the basement of Greyskull Keep.[24]

Allura caught up to Vox Machina after they met with Uriel regarding their attack on the Briarwoods following the feast. She confirmed that she sensed eerie magic at the dinner party the previous night and was suspicious of his actions. She was distraught over the accusations that the party murdered an unidentified elderly woman, who was a mercenary mage in service to a bounty hunter named The Broker.[25]

Arc 3: The Chroma Conclave[edit | edit source]

While taking refugees at the Greyskull Keep in the wake of the Chroma Crisis, Lady Allura introduced elementalist Drake Thunderbrand and revealed that they used to be part of an adventuring party with Lady Kima, Sirus, Dohla, and Ghenn. Years ago, they fought the ancient red dragon Thordak and managed to seal him in the Elemental Plane of Fire, but at the cost of Sirus, Dohla, and Ghenn's lives.[26]

In Whitestone, Allura and Kima joined Vox Machina for a formal dinner. Kima was wearing a gold dress and looked unhappy about the formal wear. Upon noticing Grog's lack of formal attire, Kima complained and Allura told her it was just a suggestion. Kima darted off to change and came back in a shirt and pants. Cassandra welcomed everyone and Allura filled them in on what they knew about the Ziggurat and the sphere contained there, which appeared to be a siphon.[27] They also said that they have been working on fortifications and there had been no sign of the dragons. Vox Machina suggested that they try to keep their names from getting out, in an attempt to not draw attention to the town. Allura provided some more information on where to find Fenthras in the Feywild. She'd also done some research on the different chromatic dragons and their personalities, and relayed that information to the party.[28] In particular, Thordak saw himself as the rightful ruler of all. Allura said that her companions originally trapped him by having one of their members work under him as a follower. They tricked him and used the heart-stone he had taken to trap him on the Elemental Plane of Fire. Vex asked if it could still be inside of him, and Gilmore said that he did see something heart-like on Thordak's chest when he faced him. Grog asked if the Titanstone Knuckles could be dangerous to transport and Allura said that it only has a small portion of the power a true heart-stone has. Allura had been keeping an eye on Emon and Thordak had been re-shaping the land with fire.[29] Allura felt a little guilty about the information dump and said she is glad to see them all. Kima wished she could have come with them and asked how Westruun was doing. Her house unfortunately seemed to have been destroyed. Grog told Kima that she should stay in her armor, then she and Allura headed home for the night.[30]

After being attacked by Clasp assassins in the night, Vox Machina and Keyleth in particular went to check whether their friends were alright. Allura and Kima were found at the front of the castle in their night clothes, having come to check the same thing, Kima dragging the corpse of a would-be assassin behind her. The party explained to her what happened, that they had killed a rakshasa and it was seeking vengeance, and she explained to them how to prevent the creature from hunting them eternally. They realized that it knowing as much about Whitestone as it did made it a liability, and agreed to put it on their to do list, but not high priority.[31]

The next morning, Vax'ildan had fallen ill, and asked Vex'ahlia to send Allura to his room. She did so, making her way to the home Allura and Kima have been staying in, where Kima invited her in for coffee. Vex then brought them back to the castle, where Vax proved to be very ill indeed. The rest of Vox Machina gathered around with suggestions and ideas, but nothing worked until Keyleth and Pike cast Greater Restoration, curing him of a curse apparently left by the rakshasa.[32] A guard called them all downstairs. Galdric had arrived, carrying a dead body which he dropped at their feet. Upon searching it, they found a glass sphere, which Allura was able to Identify as a Scrying Eye.[33] This reminded Allura that they, too, are vulnerable to Scrying, and she announced she was going to get with Gilmore to ward Whitestone against magical intrusions and blanket it in illusion. She asked Pike to stay and help them, along with Keeper Yennen. Vox Machina gave Pike one of the Gate Stones so she can join them easily. The rest of the party decided to head into the Feywild the next morning. While going about their own errands for the rest of the day, the party occasionally saw Allura working with Eskil and Gilmore marking areas in town, presumably as preparation for the proposed warding.[34]

Allura was present, along with Gilmore, Cassandra, and Pike to bid the rest of Vox Machina farewell as they journeyed into the Feywild.[35]

Preparing for to battle Vorugal, Scanlan requested Allura's presence, and for her to consult the Gate scroll he had obtained. She stated that Gate was far beyond her capabilities, but she could copy it into her spellbook and perhaps use it in a few years. Scanlan asked if that would destroy the scroll, which she confirmed it would. She warned him that any creature summoned through the gate would not be under his control, and he thanked her for her advice. The party then informed her of Tiberius's demise, and she took her leave, to attend to her duties of maintaining the illusion over Whitestone.[36]

Allura attended the council meeting, and greeted Vox Machina, congratulating them on their success against Vorugal and their safe return. Keyleth handed Allura the Spire of Conflux they retrieved to inspect, which she did briefly, before returning it. The meeting mostly consisted of the group trying to figure out their next plan of attack, settling that they would go for Thordak before Raishan. They knew that Whitestone wouldn't be safe for long and they should try to fight first. They discussed how they might be able to move their forces or if there is any merit in trying to sever Thordak's connection to the fire plane. They decided to try to reach out to their allies to tell them to prepare. Suddenly, Percy attacked Assum, revealing Raishan, much to the shock of Allura and the others present not already aware of this. During the proceeding conversation, Allura was incredibly tense, demanding to know what was going on, and looking to Vox Machina for a cue as to how to respond. When asked for her opinion on working with Raishan, Allura confessed that it bothered her, but as Whitestone was still standing it did speak volumes, and she confirmed with Raishan that Assum was still alive. The party then demanded that she bring the real Seeker Assum to Whitestone so that they could see for themselves he's all right, and talk to him about events in Emon. Although reluctant, she agreed and disappeared.Vox Machina suggested they move the war council down to the Ziggurat, now that everyone knew the truth about Raishan, and Allura agreed that it was a good idea, and that it should be impossible for their meetings to be scried upon down there. They continue to discuss various plans, now assured that they aren't being watched. They returned to the plan to lure Thordak out with Raishan's disappearance, and decided that Fort Daxio would be the best location for a fight and that their forces should all be sent there. They decided to send word to all their potential allies to gather at Fort Daxio, and to also check out Fort Daxio in person to make sure it's the best place for the battle before sending everyone there. Allura gave them a written decree from the Tal'Dorei Council so that those in charge of the fort would listen to them. Allura and the others would meet them there in a few days.[37]

Allura teleported Vox Machina to Fort Daxio, and rested with them for the night in Scanlan's Magnificent Mansion. The next morning, she used Sending to contact Syldor Vessar and Mikael Daxio in Syngorn to notify them of their plan, and also someone in Whitestone to tell them to expect Raishan to bring Seeker Assum there.[38] Two days later, Gatekeeper Xanthas arrived at Fort Daxio and asked to speak with Allura alone. During this meeting, he cast Feeblemind on her. She was later restored by Pike after Xanthas was killed.[39]

After returning to Whitestone, Allura, Cassandra Gilmore, Brom and Drake had a meeting. The room was bustling with activity, as everyone present was preparing for the events to come. Before Percy arrived, Cassandra and Allura had been discussing how to prepare the city of Whitestone for a retaliatory strike should the siege of Emon fail. [40] Vox Machina then prepared a Heroes' Feast for themselves, after which they called for Allura. They inquired after the whereabouts of the Syngorn army, and she explained they should be arriving in the early afternoon. They discussed battle strategy for a while, with what information had been relayed to Allura.[41]

Later that evening, Keyleth, Vax and Allura made their way to the Sun Tree and cast Transport via Plants to Zephrah, in order to get the Ashari's aide in the coming fight. Keyleth played tour guide and then met with her father to request their assistance, which the Ashari willingly gave. They bade each other goodbye and headed back to Whitestone while Allura poked fun at Keyleth for not introducing her.[42]

The next morning, Allura received word that the Syngorn army had arrived just short of Emon and was setting up camp to prepare for their attack at sundown. She later used Scrying to locate the army, and suitable trees for Keyleth to teleport the party through. Allura then teleported herself, Keyleth and some others to the war camp, and Keyleth opened a Transport via Plants portal to the Sun Tree, allowing the rest through.[43]

Following the defeat of Thordak and Raishan's escape, with Keyleth's assistance, Allura determined the location of Raishan and tracked her down to the Island of Viscan, where Thordak once resided within the lair of a long-dead necromancer named Opash. Allura later agreed to go with Vox Machina along with Kima to pursue and finish off the Diseased Deceiver.[44] Allura joined Vox Machina for a Heroes' Feast, alongside Kima and Kerrek, dressed ready for battle with a much more intense look on her face than usual. She confirmed with the party that they were ready to move. The party moved to the Sun Tree and using Transport via Plants, made their way to the Island of Viscan. As they stealthily moved towards the mountain, Allura informed the party that she'd done some research while they slept about the indigenous people of the island, and how they haven't been heard from since Opash took up residence there.[45]

The party located an entrance into the mountain, and headed inside. A ways down the passage, they found a locked door, and Allura was amused by the antics the party got up to while trying to open it, saying it reminded her of her days as an adventurer. One attempt to open the door summoned some 'flameskulls, which the party swiftly defeated and they proceeded onward. They then found a bridge over a ravine where gravity was reversed. Allura teleported herself and Kima across the ravine with Dimension Door, then helped the rest of the party cross to the best of her ability.[46] On the other side, they found a strange fountain, where the water flowed in the wrong direction, which upon investigation Allura found reversed the gravity in the previous chamber. The party continued on.[47]

Allura took part in the final battle against Raishan. Despite falling unconscious several times, she was able to neutralize the dragon's Greater Invisibility spell, which allowed Keyleth to cast Feeblemind on Raishan.[48]

After the battle, Allura attempted a Teleport spell, but the spell failed due to unknown circumstances. When vacating the lair, she tried again, this time with Teleportation Circle. When she and Kima stepped through, they found themselves not in Greyskull Keep, but out in the open sea, far away from any source of land. As she and Kima struggled to stay afloat, they were ultimately saved by Vex'ahlia and Percy after Keyleth managed to spot them from the beach. After deducing that teleportation magic of any kind would be very difficult to pull off on the island, most likely as a means of keeping people stranded there, they then returned to Whitestone via Keyleth's Transport via Plants spell.[49]

Arc 4: Taryon Darrington[edit | edit source]

After Scanlan's resurrection, Allura and Kima were happy to see him alive when Grog was moving his sleeping form to his room, and said they were headed back to Whitestone to attend to their duties there. Before they left, Keyleth found Allura and requested she send a message to Vex to fill her in on Scanlan's state, which she did. The party then joined her, and she teleported them with her back to Emon.[50] The party voiced their concern about the power structure in Emon, but Allura assured them that she would gather the remaining members of the council and work on getting things in place. Vex had Allura check the box that Senokir gave them. Allura detected a faint protective magical aura on it, but nothing noteworthy, and the party then left Allura and Kima in the Cloudtop district to attend to their separate businesses.[51]

The party encountered Allura briefly, as she was in Whitestone to pick up Pike and Keeper Yennen to teleport to Emon, where skilled healers were needed to patch up the victims of the Chroma Conclave.[52]

After a breakthrough was made regarding the siphon, Allura was summoned to Whitestone by Cassandra via a sending stone, courtesy of Vex shooting an Oracle Arrow and seeing what lay beyond the other side, the Shadowfell. It was also revealed that in the past year, she and Kima had gotten married (as evidenced by her wedding band) in a very small, very private ceremony.[53]

Arc 5: Vecna[edit | edit source]

Distressed by Vecna's threat to harm Vox Machina's friends, Keyleth Scried on Allura, among others, to make sure they were alright, who was seen with Kima, writing letters in her bedroom.[54]

Preparing to defend Vasselheim against Vecna's menace, Allura teleported into the meeting in the Platinum Sanctuary with Kima, reporting that Vecna's cloud had spread across the Ozmit Sea to Tal'Dorei. When Vecna revealed himself at the meeting, it was Allura who dispelled his illusion after he began threatening the loved ones of the assembled councilors. After the meeting adjourned, Allura intended to head back to Emon to attend to the needs of the city there. The party sought Allura out for counsel on how to better prepare for their confrontation, and she offered them some advice. Kima joined them, after being declined permission to ride a wyvern, and wished Vox Machina well in the fight, telling them to come back alive. Allura promised to give Gilmore a hug for them when they departed.[55]

In the battle's aftermath, Vox Machina found Allura within the Platinum Sanctuary, where she greeted them with a brief hug, telling them Kima was still cleaning up the streets. She was present for the conversations and speeches that took place, as well as Vax'ildan's departure.[56] Later, while Percy was handing out apologies and talking to Grog about the incident with the skull, Allura joined the group to assure him it was beyond any of their reach now. Allura then offered to help Pike check in on her temple. They made their way together to the Quadroads, to the restored temple of Sarenrae. The temple was still in good repair and filled with refugees, so Keyleth lent them a few spells to replenish their clean water reservoir. On Vex's request, Allura Sent a message to Syldor to let him know that his daughter Velora was safe, and that Vex would bring her home soon.[57]

In the evening, Allura brought them to a nearby dive bar called The Quarry's End, where they were joined by Kima for a round of drinks. They raised a toast to Vax'ildan, their fallen companion. When Vox Machina found a tree to use to teleport home to Whitestone, Allura and Kima decided to stay behind in the city to help with the reconstruction effort.[58]

"The Search For Grog" (OSx28)[edit | edit source]

Upon finding Grog's unconscious body and the Deck of Many Things, Vox Machina quickly used Transport via Plants to head to Vasselheim, to find answers and assistance. They made their way to the Platinum Sanctuary, and after speaking with Highbearer Vord, Allura was called for. Allura was able to determine that Grog's soul was missing and must be reunited with his body for him to return to consciousness, but she was unable to locate it. Scanlan attempted to wake Grog up again by whipping him, but then told Allura, to her surprise, that he had the Wish spell and could possibly find where Grog's soul had gone.[59]

After Scanlan determined the location of Grog's soul, Allura provided more information to them of the dangers of Pandemonium, and Vord called for members of the city to aid Vox Machina. Once volunteers were secured, and Allura explained to Bertrand Bell what volunteer means, she offered to send the party to Pandemonium when they were ready. Vox Machina departed to finish their preparations, then reconvened and Allura cast Plane Shift to transport them to Pandemonium.[60]

"Dalen's Closet" (OSx33)[edit | edit source]

Allura was in attendance at Vex and Percy's wedding. She and Kima had decided to arrive a few days early to enjoy a little holiday, as they rarely got the opportunity to visit Marquet. She was present for the rehearsal dinner, and knocked unconscious with most of the rest of the guests, and was subsequently healed by Pike. While Vox Machina rushed after their would be assassins, Kima and Allura stayed behind to make sure everyone else at the party was alright. By the time they reached the fight, it was already over.[61]

Campaign 2: The Mighty Nein[edit | edit source]

Arc 4: Swords and Angels[edit | edit source]

When his master Yussa Errenis was missing for three weeks while exploring the Heirloom Sphere, Wensforth used a sending stone to reach his emergency contact, encouraged by the Mighty Nein. Allura soon arrived via Teleportation Circle, now in her mid-fifties but otherwise much the same in appearance as when she was known by Vox Machina. She introduced herself as the Master of Arcana on the Council of Tal'Dorei and assisted the party in going after Yussa into the Sphere by providing healing potions and a Mirror of Infinite Transpondence via which they could contact her while she remained behind to research.[62]

Allura was summoned to Yussa's tower where she set up a ritual to learn more about the Angel of Irons cult. Through the Mighty Nein's connection to Yasha, she successfully cast her spell, learning that the Angel of Irons was actually a guise for Tharizdun, the Chained Oblivion.[63] The Mighty Nein told Allura and Yussa everything they knew of the Angel of Irons cult, and named everyone they knew was connected to it. Allura then returned to Tal'Dorei to warn the Council.[64]

Upon arriving in King Bertrand Dwendal's throne room, the Mighty Nein noticed that Allura was present among those assembled. Though Dwendal treated her with suspicion, he allowed her to remain. During the discussion, Allura provided an account of what she knew of the Angel of Irons cult and the Mighty Nein. She also said that she contacted the Bright Queen, convincing her to call off the attacks on Rexxentrum. Dwendal was furious that she spoke with his enemy. Allura asserted that Tal'Dorei was not an enemy of the Kryn Dynasty, and was neutral in Wildemount's war. After the discussion ended, Allura approached the Nein. She met Yasha for the first time, telling her she was glad she was well. Their conversation was brief, as Ludinus Da'leth soon arrived to take charge of the Nein.[65]

Arc 6: Weird Magic[edit | edit source]

The Mighty Nein were Teleported to Allura's Ivory Tower by Yussa Errenis, where they met with Allura and Kima about the looming threat of Lucien, the Tombtakers, and the Somnovem. Allura was unwilling to come with them to aid personally in the coming battle, but gave them many gifts, including two Arcane Field Generators, a tuning fork for the Astral Sea, residuum, and a spell scroll of Intellect Fortress. Most importantly, she loaned them her Staff of Power and Kima loaned Yasha her Holy Avenger.[66]

Campaign 3: Bells Hells[edit | edit source]

During the apogee solstice in 843 PD, Allura was brought to Whitestone to aid Percy, Imahara Joe, Dancer, and Verna in the reconstruction of Ludinus Da'leth's Quintessence Array. She was able to provide Bells Hells with arcane information regarding the array,[67] and also identified the power with Ashton's head as related to Dunamancy.[68] Percy then privately spoke with her and expressed his concerns that Whitestone would be at risk during the ensuing fight; she reassured him the fight would be elsewhere.[69]

Allura said she has visited the Shattered Teeth "a few times".[70] Allura also recognized Orym and told him that he looks more confident compared to the last time they saw each other.[71] During the war council, she explained that either the Malleus Key itself or something at that site was disrupting the weave of magic due to the stress on the leylines, and might permanently alter or break it.[72]

The next day, Allura was a part of another meeting, where they discussed their plans regarding Bells Hells' infiltration of the Tishtan site. Allura and Percival suggested that a complex illusion would be a good distraction, which Allura offered to provide. Moreover, if the illusions were "killed", they also had "a lot of meat" so that they could try to keep up the appearance that this is a true attack, allowing Bells Hells to take the Bloody Bridge to Ruidus.[73] Allura gave the party a number of potions and spell scrolls: two spell scrolls of Mass Nondetection; one of Greater Restoration for Ryn's depetrification; one of Dimension Door; two greater healing potions, one superior healing potion, one potion of speed, and two Potions of Gaseous Form.[74]

Following the end of the meeting, Allura participated in the absorption of the the shard of Rau'shan, casting a protective sphere around the participants (Ashton and Fearne),[75] to shield everyone outside the sphere.[76] When Ashton told her, after the failed attempt, that it had gone badly, Allura admitted this was unsurprising for adventurers.[77] She later found Imogen and expressed her concern; while she understood that the party needed time to regroup, Bells Hells' mission was vital to the cause and to finding out how much time they even had to act.[78]

The next day, after some further discussion, Bells Hells told Allura they intended to go to the Fey Realm to see Nana Morri before the mission. Allura, with some trepidation due to her knowledge of Morrigan, agreed to transport them and to join them. She packed her things and brought them all to Ligament Manor.[79] While there, she found the experience unsettling and was frequently concerned about Morri.[80] When Bells Hells were ready, she, with Morri's aid in controlling the passage of time, Planeshifted the party to the Tishtan site's western encampment.[81] There, she met with Percy, Keyleth, Tofor, Earthbreaker Groon, and Mythtaker Qi Mandozi, introducing Bells Hells to those they had not met.[82] When Groon brought up Fearne and Imogen's Ruidusborn status, Allura vouched for them and how this had made them able to contribute to the cause in particular ways.[83] She then worked on the illusory distraction with Qi.[84]

After the Accord's encampment was destroyed, Allura was among those who relocated to Vasselheim. She attended the council meeting of the Exandrian Accord arranged in the city's Platinum Sanctuary.[85] There, she argued in favor of a more nuanced look at the people of Ruidus,[86] and after the meeting was adjourned told Bells Hells that three dragons were allied with the Accord.[87] The following morning, in the planning session at the Trial Forge, Allura suggested bringing in the Mighty Nein to deal with the Weave Mind as part of their plan of attack.[88]

At the third meeting, Allura introduced the Mighty Nein as an adventuring party who could take out the Weave Mind, given their experience with psychic threats.[89]

The Legend of Vox Machina[edit | edit source]

When the Republic of Tal'Dorei was plagued by the unknown threat in vicinity of Shalesteps, the Tal'Dorei Council chose Vox Machina to deal with it. Allura escorted them, taking a skyship to the Shalesteps, and briefly explained their mission. Allura unceremoniously dropped them off.[90]

Sovereign Uriel chastised Vox Machina for disrupting the feast and ordered the guards to arrest them, but Allura diffused the situation and told Uriel she would deal with them. Vex'ahlia told Allura that the Briarwoods have affected Uriel's mind. Allura was skeptical but acknowledged that Uriel's behavior was a little impulsive. Vex told her that she could get proof, but Allura put Vox Machina under house arrest in their keep.[91]

During the Chroma Conclave attack on Emon, Allura was able to magically shield Salda Tal'Dorei and her children.[92]

When Keyleth traveled via trees to Pyrah, she saw Allura and Kima, who were happy to see her. She was pleasantly surprised to know they were alive. Soon after a portal into the Elemental Plane of Fire opened up, and the village was attacked by fire elementals. Allura and Kima teleported in front of Vex and Pike, who were stunned but happy to see them. Allura and Kima led Vox Machina towards the rift, and Kima told them that Allura managed to teleport her, Salda Tal'Dorei, and the children as the tower was falling on them. Allura then explained that she, Kima, and their fellow adventurers battled Thordak years ago, and used the soul anchor to imprison Thordak in the plane of fire via the rift, so they knew that if he was free, something must have happened to Pyrah. Allura gathered everyone around the rift to try to control it and fight the influx of monsters.[93] In the aftermath, Allura and Kima told Vox Machina that they will help clean up at Pyrah, then leave for Whitestone, and they shared a kiss. Kima remarked that they also needed to check on Syngorn.[93]

In Whitestone, Allura and Kima attended a war room meeting discussing plans against the Chroma Conclave. Kima remarked that the Chroma Conclave has taken Emon and Westruun. Allura and Gilmore told them that the spell hiding Whitestone from the dragons cannot be maintained indefinitely. When several Vox Machina members entered, Kima asked were the others were, and Keyleth and Vex explained that they were separated when Umbrasyl attacked them. Allura cast a spell and revealed Pike and Scanlan hiding, with Grog walking through the crowd of half-giants. Allura and Cassandra caught up the members of Vox Machina that the others were in the city of Westruun, which was under Umbrasyl's control, and Grog might be in danger.[94]

Relationships[edit | edit source]

Lady Kima of Vord[edit | edit source]

Official art of Kima of Vord and Allura, by Babs Tarr.[art 4]

Allura and Kima have a very close relationship that stems back from their adventuring days before the arcanist became a member of the Tal'Dorei Council. Allura was the one who sent Vox Machina to find Kima after the paladin failed to return from her vision quest.[95]

When the two of them were reunited, they were very happy to see each other. The two of them embraced as Allura lifted Kima off the ground and spun her around. With a tear rolling down her face, Allura told Kima how worried she had been, and the halfling apologized for causing her trouble.[96]

While living in Whitestone, Allura and Kima were reunited once more and shared a house.[97] Kima became enraged when she discovered that Gatekeeper Xanthas had cast Feeblemind on Allura. As a group of lizardfolk and wyvern riders assaulted Fort Daxio, the paladin hunted down the elven mage and was disappointed when Vex'ahlia landed the killing blow against him.[98] When the battle ended, Pike Trickfoot used Greater Restoration to return Allura to her normal state of mind. Kima then ran up to Allura and kissed her.[99]

In "Taryon, My Wayward Son" (1x97), it was revealed that Allura and Kima had gotten married in a "very small, very private" ceremony.[100]

Tiberius Stormwind[edit | edit source]

Tiberius, at some point, became infatuated with Allura. She has hinted that she likes him, though it was never made clear. He also stated that she was a more powerful magic user than him.

When Tiberius saw the affectionate relationship between Allura and Kima, he assumed they were a couple and became very disappointed.[101] Even so, he continued with his flirtations and eventually seemed to set up a date with Allura.[23] However, later that evening Vox Machina got into a battle during which Tiberius brutally killed an old woman as she was sleeping. Allura was very distressed when she heard about this, and when she asked Tiberius about it he did not deny it, and defended his actions. Allura left shortly after.[102] That was the last time Allura and Tiberius ever saw each other. Sometime later, Tiberius was killed by the white dragon Vorugal.[103] She was later informed of his death by Scanlan and expressed grief and regret over the loss.[104]

Yussa Errenis[edit | edit source]

Yussa and Allura seem to be peers with similar experience levels (although Allura seems to be more familiar with battle). The exact details of their relationship are unknown; however, Yussa went so far as to designate Allura as his emergency contact when he began his experiments with the Heirloom Sphere and his exploration of the Folding Halls. This suggests he has a certain level of trust in her that he hasn't been shown to have in other wizards - or people in general.

Vox Machina[edit | edit source]

As a whole, Allura deeply respects Vox Machina, the party having earned her respect and her trust during their time in Emon when they worked together to solve the mystery of Uriel's unusual behavior and save the city. From that day onward, the arcanist proved herself repeatedly to be one of their greatest friends and allies. During their time on the Isle of Viscan, she was reminded of her old adventuring days.

The Mighty Nein[edit | edit source]

Allura has had fewer encounters with the Mighty Nein than with Vox Machina, but she is still impressed by their skills. She met the Mighty Nein after being summoned by Wensforth after Yussa Errenis disappeared in the Happy Fun Ball. Allura's relationship with the group benefited their political dealings trying to form a truce between the Empire and the Dynasty, and the successful defeat of the Angel of Irons cult.

Allura also was able to offer some guidance and powerful artifacts in the hopes of helping the Mighty Nein stop the Tombtakers in their pursuit of bringing the Somnovem back to Aeor.

Group affiliations[edit | edit source]

Allura is a member of both the Tal'Dorei Council and Arcana Pansophical, the sole known person to be on both powerful councils.
